Newburgh, NY July 5, 2010 - The ALNRS did their own version of super speedway racing this past weekend as they took to the ½ Mile Concrete Palace at the one year old Shangri La II Speedway in Tioga Center, NY. Series Director Michael Vasquez stated the ALNRS normally races ¼ mile to 3/8 miles speedways throughout New England. The opportunity to race on a larger track such a Shangri La II just isn't available in the New England area, Vasquez stated. The deal came together rather quickly as a conversation Vasquez had during his 9-5 job with a local Harley Davidson dealer in upstate NY led to the discovery of Shangri La II. Once I learned about the track I quickly contacted Track Manager Amy Stilson. Amy welcomed the ALNRS and provided an experience the drivers will not soon forget.
The track specs which include 16 Degree Banking, 13 coming in to the corners and then progressing into 15 in mid corner and progressing back to 16 coming out of the corner and 7 degree on straights, which are a 70ft Wide, marvel that of some Cup tracks.
With a full day of practice on Friday most of the teams were able to get their feet wet. For most of the ALNRS driver it would be their first time on a ½ mile speedway in which they could test their skills. All fared well with the exception of aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year contender Brad Zahensky of Bow, NH. During one of the last rounds of practice it was discover that the engine in the #7 Weed Family Automotive, Line-X of Merrimack, BTA Graphics sponsored Monte Carlo was on its way out. Team owner Paul Zahensky was determined to keep his driver in the field and made a six hour round trip to pick up a spare motor. With the help of several ALRNS team members they were able to complete an engine swap Saturday morning.
With Saturdays practice winding down fellow rookie driver T.J. Jeski of Dracut, MA found himself testing the durability of the rear of his #38 Monte Carlo as he contacted the outside wall while spinning coming out of turn 2. The damage was minimal and once again the ALNRS competitors came to the aid of a fellow driver and assisted in getting the car race ready.
With a single heat race on tap based on the short field the drivers took to the track. At the drop of the green flag the 44 of Dighton, MA driver James Logan and the 43 of rookie driver Devin O'Connell of Madison, CT got together as the field headed into turn three bringing out a quick caution. On the restart Vasquez who was filling out the field at the back of the pack, missed a shift on the restart and collected Logan who unfortunately left some souvenirs for the fans on the front stretch. Once the track was cleared the green flag flew again. With the butterflies gone the drivers showed their stuff as they swapped positions over the next 8 laps.
At the checkers it was 13 yr old Emily Packard of East Montpelier, VT in her Northstar Fireworks sponsored Monte Carlo who picked up her first heat race win of the 2010 season. In second was Logan who recovered nicely from the earlier contact with Vasquez. Rounding out the top five were Kyle Poodiack of Bennington, NH in his HRE Racing Parts, George Chicoine Enterprises LLC Monte Carlo in third. Followed by Fichburgh, MA driver Troy McNeil in his #36 All Season Forming Supplies, Sunrise Cleaning, Rusty's Auto sponsored Thunderbird in fourth. Followed by series veteran Mellissa Fifield of Wakefield, NH in her Easter Boats, NE Correct Craft Monte Carlo.
With only three divisions competing in Saturday's event the ALNRS drivers didn't have much time to relax before they had to prepare for their 25 lap feature event. At the drop of the green the drivers raced Daytona style on their version of a super speedway. Lap six brought out the first caution with a single car spin by Zahensky. It was green flag racing until lap 20 when the 36 of McNeil lost the handling on his Thunderbird in turn two. On the restart it was Logan followed by Packard and Poodiack who were all over his rear bumper. The final caution waved on lap 24 as McNeil who began to pick off his fellow drivers spun coming out of turn four. This set up a green white checker. On the restart Logan once again showed why he was the 2009 champion as he got a great start pulling away from Packard and Poodiack who battled for position behind him. At the checkers it was Logan, Packard, Poodiack followed by Zahensky and Jeski.
The raced was a great experience for the ALNRS drivers, Vasquez stated and the series looks forward to returning to the speedway in 2011.
Next stop for the Stars of Tomorrow is the fastest quarter mile in the east, Monadnock Speedway this Saturday July 10. With only 13 points separating the top three drivers the point's race is sure to heat up.

Newburgh, NY May 24, 2010 - Two time ALNRS Champion Anthony Frissora found himself in a familiar place this past Saturday night with his first victory since 2007. Anthony of Shrewsbury, MA was the series first back to back champion having won the title in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 Anthony returned for a one race deal at Adirondack Speedway with Paul Tuthill Racing where he posted a top three finish. In 2010 Anthony joined KMV Racing as a teammate to East Haddam, CT Driver Eric Bourgeois. After his win in the qualifier Anthony started on the front row alongside Bennington, NH Driver Kyle Poodiack who picked up the win in the second round of qualifying. With the 16 car field set it was time for the Feature event.
A missed shift at the drop of the green flag caused the field to stack up as they headed into turn one which caused several cars to get together. Bourgeois, who wound up slamming into the turn one wall, and Bow, NH driver Brad Zahensky suffered heavy damage and both were unable to continue.
Lap 9 saw the first of 5 racing cautions as Millis, MA driver Billy Barrett was involved in a single car spin. One lap later on the restart Rookie Driver Samantha DellaRocco of North Branford, CT and 2009 aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year driver Peter Portante of Plainville, CT got together in the middle of turns 3 and 4 which caused Portante to slam into the turn 4 wall in one of the hardest crashes the series has seen in quite some time. Portante was treated in the infield and was later transferred to a local hospital for further evaluation where he was treated and released.
The red flag was thrown as the track had to await the arrival of another ambulance. Once racing resumed the battle up front would be between the series two former champions James Logan of Dighton, MA and Frissora as they battled for the top spot. Also battling for position was Washingtonville, NY driver Paul Tuthill and Poodiack. The two would battle for several laps with Tuthill securing the third spot.
Lap 22 would bring out the final caution of the night for a single car spin by T.J. Jeski of Dracut, MA. On the restart Frissora was once again able to hold off the hard charging Logan who was all over his rear bumper. Logan who had run second most of the night, had his night end in a bit of frustration when on the last lap he ran out of gas coming to the checkers. Tuthill who battled with Logan earlier in the race was able to capitalize on this and secured second place for his second top five finish in three races.
Rounding out the top five were Emily Packard of East Montpelier, VT who got her second top five in three races. In fifth was Wakefield, NH driver Mellissa Fifield who scored her first top 5 of the 2010 ALNRS Season and was also the hard charger of the race as she gained 10 spots from her 15 place starting position. The aDP Rivet Rookie of the Race went to Barrett who was able to recover from to earlier spins to come home in 6th place.
The ALNRS will be off for Memorial Day weekend as we remember those who have died in service of our great country. The Series will return to Monadnock Speedway on June 5th for another exciting night of Allison Legacy Racing.

Newburgh, NY May 18, 2010 - After having a month and half off after the season opener, 17 ALNRS cars took the high banked quarter mile Monadnock Speedway this past Saturday night. For most it was the track to tough to tame as the 25 lap feature was marred by 8 cautions. In the end Washingtonville, NY driver Paul Tuthill, who was able to avoid the mayhem captured his first feature win of the 2010 season. Second place went East Haddem, CT driver Eric Bourgeois, who with his 2nd place finish is now the new points leader. In third was Bennington, NH driver Kyle Poodiack who was able to recover after being involved in one of the earlier cautions. Rounding out the top five was 2009 aDP Rivet Rookie of the year Peter Portante of Plainville, CT, followed by 2006/2007 ALNRS Champion Anthony Frissora, who is made his return to the series for the first time since the middle of the 2008 ALNRS season. The aDP Rivet Rookie of the race was went to Troy McNeil of Fitchburgh, MA who was also the hard charger of the race finishing 9th up six spots from his 15th place starting position.
The series will head to the Waterford Speedbowl this Saturday night May 22 for round three of their 15 race schedule.

Newburgh, NY March 29, 2010 - In 2009 Dighton, Ma. Driver James Logan clinched his first ALNRS Championship and did so without a single feature win. In 2010 James has other plans has he vies for his second championship in a row and with a season opening win this past weekend he appears to be on target.
16 ALNRS drivers took to the track for the season opening race at the Waterford Speedbowl Budweiser Nationals. Heat 1 saw East Haddam, CT driver Eric Bourgeois Jump out to the lead at the drop of the green and never look back. At the checkers Bourgeois was followed by Maynard, MA driver Sean Murphy who was entering his sophomore season in the ALNRS and 2009 aDP Rivet Rookie of the year driver Peter Portante of Plainville, CT. Rounding out the top five was Nathan Johnson of Troy, NH followed by rookie driver Troy McNeil of Fitchburg, MA. Heat 2's 8 lap qualifier saw 2009 standout driver Paul Tuthill lead every lap. Rounding out the top five were Logan, Bennington, NH driver Kyle Poodiack, East Montpelier, VT driver Emily Packard and Wakefield, NH driver Mellissa Fifield.
The 25 lap feature had Bourgeois and Tuthill on the front row with Logan and Poodiack and Murphy in tow. Bourgeois led the first 8 circuits at the famed 3/8's mile oval as he lost the lead to Logan who was turning laps a mere 1.2 seconds off the fastest late model. Lap 9 saw the first caution of the race as rookie driver Brad Zahensky got tangled up with the leaders in turn 2. Three other cautions followed for single cars spins and a mechanical issue on the 36 of T.J. Jeski of Dracot, MA. Lap 24 saw the final cautions as the driver were heading for the checkers. Sean Murphy spun coming out of turn 2 and collected Portante and McNeil ending their night one lap shy of the checkers. With a green white checker Bourgeois had one shot left at Logan but Logan was had other plans as he picked up his first checkered flag of the 2010 season. Rounding out the top five were Bourgeois, Tuthill, Packard and Poodiack who recovered from an earlier spin in turn four.
The ALNRS will be off until April 17 when they head to Lee U.S.A Speedway for their Annual Governors Cup Season opener.

2009 Allison Legacy North Race Series CHAMPION James Logan Dighton, MA

Newburgh, NY October 26, 2009 - The 2009 ALNRS Season ended in a dramatic fashion this past weekend at Lee USA Speedway's annual Octoberfest. In victory lane for the sixth time this season was Tommy Barrett of Millis, MA. With his win Tommy tied Washingtonville, NY driver Paul Tuthill for the most wins in a single season. The previous record was held by two time ALNRS Champion Anthony Frissora who had five wins in 2007. Barrett and Tuthill combined for 12 of the 16 victories of the 2009 season.
Although with his win Barrett came up just three points shy of winning his first ALNRS Championship, as fellow MA. driver James Logan finished in second thus clinching his first ALNRS Championship. Logan proved the consistency could still win a championship. Logan, who in 2008 had visited victory lane three times and finished third in points failed to make it to victory lane this season. However with seven top three finishes, he was able to stay in the top three in points for the entire season.
Finishing third in the annual Octoberfest event was Tuthill who started third but was involved in a lap two caution as he and Somers, CT driver Cody Gneiting got together in the middle of turns three and four. Tuthill was able to charge back through the 14 car field running 4th in the lates stages of the race. However Tuthill was able to put just enough pressure on veteran driver Eric Bourgeois of East Haddam, CT. Bourgeois who started 7th picked up four spots by lap two and ran in third from lap two until lap 19 when he spun coming out of turn just after taking the white flag. Bourgeois stated "I knew Paul was coming and I had to drive just a little harder". Unfortunately for him he just drove a little too hard as he lost the handling on his KMV Racing Ford Thunderbird as he exited turn two. Eric was able to recover quickly and went on to finish seventh.
Rounding out the top five was aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year contender Emily Packard of East Montpelier, VT who finished fourth. In fifth was fellow rookie driver Peter Portante of Plainville, CT. Portante who by taking the green flag, clinched the 2009 aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year Title.
The annual Octoberfest race, conclude the 2009 race season for most of the ALNRS Teams. For some the season will continue as they once again head south to compete in the annual 200 lap race at Florence Motor Speedway in Florence, SC.
Series Director Michael A. Vasquez, Sr. would like to thank all the ALNRS Teams and drivers for an outstanding season. Michael also stated that with three new teams already on board for the 2010 season and only one team moving up the series will continue to provide some of the most exciting racing by some of the youngest talented drivers in New England.

Newburgh, NY Oct 12, 2009 - Millis, MA Driver Tommy Barrett wins again. Tommy has been one of the hottest young drivers in ALNRS history having won an unprecedented 5 out of his last 8 races. Tommy once again graced victory lane with his presence as he won this past weekend's fall final at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT. Tommy took the lead from fellow series standout Paul Tuthill of Washingtonville, NY on lap three and never looked back. With only two quick cautions during the 25 lap feature the battle up front would be between the Tuthill and Sommers, CT driver Cody Gneiting and current point leader James Logan of Dighton, MA. The three drivers along with Barrett would battle for the top spot throughout the race. At the finish line it would be Barrett followed by Gneiting, Tuthill Logan and Bennington, NH driver Kyle Poodiack.
With his fifth win of the 2009 ALNRS Season, Tommy now trials fellow MA. driver James Logan by a mere 10 points heading into the final race of the 2009 Season at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH. Barrett is not alone in his quest for his first ALNRS Championship as Tuthill trials him by only 6 points and Logan by 16. As the top three drivers head into the final race each one of them has a mathematical chance of winning the title. The final lap of the 2009 season will ultimately decide who the champion will be. So be sure to be there for the Lee, USA Speedways annual Octoberfest on October 24 & 25 as we crown our 2009 ALNRS Champion.

Newburgh, NY Sept 6, 2009 - Former Thompson Mini Stock Champion Eric Bourgeois of East Haddam, CT claimed his first victory in the Allison Legacy North Race Series this past Saturday night at Monadnock Speedway. Bourgeois entered the series in 2006 and ran a limited schedule over the last two years. In 2009 Bourgeois was hired to run the #8 KMV Racing & V-Twin Performance Ford Thunder. Over the last several weeks Bourgeois has worked with current ALNRS point Paul Tuthill to help improve his race cars set up. It paid off Saturday night as Bourgeois, who started third in the ten car field for the heat race, moved into the top spot by lap 4 and never looked back. With his win Bourgeois would start on the pole for the 20 lap feature.
Lap 1 would see the first of only 3 cautions for the evening as the #5 of local driver Nathan Johnson of Troy, NH in his Johnson Roofing Ford Thunder and Somers, CT driver Cody Gneiting in the #89 Custom Homes by Cooker Construction sponsored Ford would make contact in the middle of turns 3 & 4. On the restart it was Bourgeois followed Dighton, MA driver James Logan in the #44 G. Lopes Construction sponsored Ford , the #99 Victory Lane Bar & Grill of Millis, MA driver Tommy Barrett, who has been on fire over the last several weeks. Rounding out the top five were Bennington, NH driver Kyle Poodiack in the #3 Peterboro Tool Co. Inc. sponsored Chevy, who had just claimed his first victory in the ALNRS at the last race at Seekonk Speedway and aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year contender Emily Packard of East Montpelier, VT in her #9 Northstar Fireworks sponsored Chevy.
Lap 8 would bring out the second caution of the night for a single car spin by the #5 of Johnson. On the restart rookie driver Nicoal Perreault would have trouble reeling in the power on her #19 Chevy. On the restart Bourgeois would once again jump out to the lead. Hot on his tail were Barrett followed by Logan, Gneiting and Poodiack. Logan would slip up on lap 11 as he would spin coming out of turn 2. Logan was able to keep his forward momentum and only lost 2 spots. The closing laps would see Barrett gaining ground on Bourgeois. It appeared as it was going to be a photo finish until Barrett spun exiting turn two coming to the checkers.
At the line it was Bourgeois followed by Gneiting, Poodiack, Logan and the #5 of Johnson who recovered from his earlier two spins to claim a top five finish.
The hardest hit of the night went to current aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year points leader Peter Portante of Plainville, CT. Portante unwillingly put his HANS device to the ultimate test as he slammed head on into the outside wall exiting turn two on the final lap of practice. After a brief stay in the infield care center Portante was released and was able to attend the drivers meeting later that night.
The ALNRS will be off next week and will head back to the half mile circle at the Adirondack Int. Speedway in Loweville, NY on Sept. 19.
Current point leader Paul Tuthill was unable to attend the race and now only leads Logan by a mere 29 points as the ALNRS heads into their final four races of the season. So stay as the battle for the 2009 ALNRS Championships wines down.

Newburgh, NY Aug. 14, 2009 - Bennington, NH Driver Kyle Poodiack scored his first victory in the Allison Legacy North Race Series this past weekend at Seekonk Speedway. After qualifying 11th in the 15 car field 14yr old Kyle methodically worked his way through the field picking off his fellow racers one at a time. By lap 8 Kyle had worked himself all the way up to 3rd place and by lap 15 he would be all over the rear bumper of race leader Eric Bourgeois of East Haddem, CT. Bourgeois took over the top spot on lap 7 when he passed Somers, CT driver Cody Gneiting who had led the first 6 trips around the famed ¼ mile MA. track. Gneitings night would get worse as he was involved in the first of his three cautions on lap 8 when he got together with the 44 of James Logan of Dighton, MA. Both drivers were battling for the 2nd spot behind Bourgeois at the time. Logan and Gneiting would get together again 6 laps later as they were both trying to work their way back to the front. Kyle had just slipped back to 4th as Millis, MA driver Tommy Barrett would slip past Poodiack bringing Gneiting with him on lap 18. Lap 19 would see Gneiting being involved in his third caution of the night as he got together with Barrett as they both battled for the number two spot. On the restart current point leader Paul Tuthill of Washingtonville, NY was able to get the jump on Poodiack as they headed into turn 1. Poodiack never faltered and stuck to Tuthills bumper putting pressure on him with each passing lap. Lap 23 would see the final caution of the night as Tuthill turned race leader Bourgeois as they exited turn 4. The single file restart would put Poodiack on point for the final 7 laps. However his first win would not come without a fight as he battled new comer Ryan Morgan of Mystic, CT who was making his first ever appearance in the ALNRS. Morgan's 2nd place run would not last long as Logan who battled all the way back to the front of the pack would pass Morgan on lap 27. Morgan would lose one more spot to the hard charging Gneiting on the final lap of the 30 lap feature. Rounding out the top 5 was Morgan's teammate Nathan Johnson.
The ALNRS will be off for the next two weeks before they get set to run their last 5 races of the 2009 ALNRS Season as they return to Monadnock Speedway on Sept. 5. With a 93 point lead over Logan going into the final 5 races, Tuthill will have to keep himself up front in order to clinch his first ALNRS Championship.

Newburgh, NY Aug 3, 2009 - Millis, MA driver Tommy Barrett overcomes adversity to put himself in victory lane this past weekend at the half mile circular oval at Adirondack Int. Speedway in New Bremmen, NY. With his first win in front of his hometown crowd at last weekend's race at Seekonk Speedway unofficial, Tommy was on a mission to prove it was no fluke.
With the 99 team being told they had to do an engine swap prior to Saturdays nights event, the crew with the help of several other teams crew members, worked feverishly to complete the task prior to the first round of practice. As the green flagged waved for the first round the 99 rolled out onto the track to shake down their new power plant. As the second round of practice began it was evident that Tommy was going to continue where he left off.
With the tracks transponder system out of commission the ALNRS Officials were forced to hold a qualifying race instead of time trials. With a pick of the pill it was obvious that lady luck was shinning down on Tommy has he picked the number one spot, putting him on the pole for the ten lap qualifier. With some adjustments still needing to be made to the number 99 Victory Lane Bar and Grill Chevy, Tommy slipped back into the pack. Taking over the top spot was Dighton, MA driver James Logan who moved all the way to the top spot from his number six starting position in only four laps. James would lead the rest of the way taking the checkered flag. Rounding out the top five were the 81 of Washingtonville, NY driver Paul Tuthill, the 8 of East Haddam, CT driver Eric Bourgeois followed by Somers, CT driver Cody Gneiting and rookie standout Peter Portante of Plainville, CT.
Next up was the 40 lap feature. With his heat win Logan would start on the pole but would only hold the position for the first two go a rounds as Tuthill grabbed the top spot on lap three. However Tuthill was not alone as Barrett would move all the way up from his eighth place starting position into the second spot on lap four. The two would battle side by side for the remainder of the race. In third place was Bourgeois who was just waiting for the two young veteran drivers to make the slightest mistake. However he was not alone as he battled to keep his position with the 44 of Logan. The lap 15 caution would unfortunately put an end to Logan's plans for a win. As the caution came out for a spin on the front stretch by Bennington, NH driver Kyle Poodiack, Logan got into Bourgeois as Bourgeois began to slow for the caution. Unfortunately for Logan he would wide up on the short end of the stick has he spun into the turn two wall bending his panhard bar and ending his night prematurely.
The battle up front continued as Tuthill and Barrett battled side by side for the top spot. Barrett slipped into the lead on lap 19 only giving it right back to Tuthill on 20 before regaining it on lap 21. Tuthill would not be denied as he grabbed the top spot back on lap 25.
The lap 34 caution would see the hardest hit of the night as the 26 of aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year contender Sean Murphy of Maynard, MA would spin coming out of turn four right in front of fellow rookie driver Emily Packard in her Northstar Fireworks Chevy. Both drivers would be able to continue.
On the restart the 24 of Portante would get into the back of Bourgeois sending him around. With the caution waving once again, both drivers were sent to the back for bringing out the yellow thus ending their chance at a podium finish. Both were running in the top five at the time.
Lap 38 would see the final caution of the night, as Tuthill who was doing everything he could do to keep the charging Barrett behind him spun coming off turn four. With that Barrett was all alone at the top for the final two laps. Rounding out the top five was Troy, NH driver Victor Johnson in second, who was making a rare appearance with the ALNRS. In third was Gneiting who beat the charging Bourgeois by a half a car length at the stripe. In fifth was Poodiack who also recovered nicely from his earlier spin to grab a top five.
The ALNRS will be headed back to Monadnock Speedway this weekend as they continue their stretch of four races in a row. So come out and enjoy the some of the finest young drivers in the Northeast as the battle for the 2009 ALNRS Championship.

MCR North begins a new Partnership with Paul Tuthill Racing.
The Michael Cooper Racing, LLC, shop, located in Sanford, NC, is quite a distance for most of the Allison Legacy North racers to drive, making it hard for them to take advantage of the Set-Up Services MCR offers. In response to the many requests for MCR Set-Ups, Paul Tuthill Racing is now offering the MCR Set-Up Service through his shop located in Washingtonville, New York. Now Allison Legacy North racers can take advantage of MCR Services without the drive south.

Newburgh, NY June 8, 2009 - Washingtonville, NY driver Paul Tuthill used the full moon to his advantage as he picked up his third win in four races of the 2009 ALNRS. Tuthill started on the pole and never looked back as he led every circuit of the 30 lap feature. The full moon wasn't as forgiving to the rest of the field as the caution was shown six times over the course of the race. The first coming out as early as lap 3 for a single car spin by local Troy, New Hampshire driver Nathan Johnson in his #5 Johnson Roofing Ford Thunderbird. It was green flag racing until lap 11 when Michael Vasquez, Sr. lost control of his #8 KMV Racing & V-Twin Performance Ford Thunderbird in turns 3 & 4 for the third time over the course of the day. The third caution of the night on lap 18 would end Vasquez's nite for good as he got together with aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year contender Emily Packard of East Montpelier, VT in her #9 Northstar Fireworks Chevy Monte Carlo. The two got together exiting turn four and tried to knock down the front stretch wall. Needless to say the wall won and both had to be removed from the track with the assistance of a wrecker. The restart on lap 19 would bring out the fourth caution for an incident involving Taunton, MA driver Mickey D'Agostino and Wakefield, NH driver Melissa Fifield. The lap 23 caution was brought out due to a spin by Dighton, MA driver James Logan who lost the handling on his #44 G. Lopes Construction Ford Thunderbird, while running up front. The 6th and final caution of the night was brought out after Eric Bourgeois who was on his way to another top three finish had a mechanical failure causing him to lose control of his #88 KMV Racing & EB Exterminating Ford. Unfortunately for Logan he was also caught up the caution which ended the night early for both drivers. At the checkers it was Tuthill followed by last weeks winner Shane D'Agostino. Rounding out the top three was Sommers, CT driver Cody Gneiting.
The ALNRS will be off for the next two weeks as they prepare for the North/South Shootout on June 27 at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC. This race will pit the top New England Legacy drivers against the top Southern series drivers.

Newburgh, NY June 2, 2009 - The ALNRS made their first of three stops to the half mile Adirondack Int. Speedway in Lowville, NY this past weekend. After being off for several weeks the ALNRS teams were eager to get back to action. With only one heat race on the schedule the 14 car field took to the track for their qualifying race. At the drop of the green the #8 of Michael Vasquez Sr. of Newburgh, NY who was on the outside pole position had a little trouble getting his KMV Racing & V-Twin Performance Ford Thunderbird into high gear and caused the field to stack up behind him. With a slight tap from behind the #8 found himself spinning down the front stretch making slight contact with the front stretch wall. With a complete restart the field once again took the green. The battle up front was between several of the series top drivers who began jockeying for position. At the end of the 10 lap qualifier it would be the #44 of Dighton, MA driver James Logan taking the top spot followed by Somers, CT driver Cody Gneiting and Taunton, MA Driver Shane D'Agostino. Rounding out the top five was current points leader Paul Tuthill of Washingtonville, NY followed by Bennington, NH driver Kyle Poodiack who started on the pole.
The first 3 laps of the feature would see Logan, Tuthill, Gneiting, D'Agostino and East Haddam, CT driver Eric Bourgeois battle for the top five postions. On lap 4 Tuthill decided to test his #81 Interstate Batteries sponsored Ford Thunderbird against Adirondacks version of a safer barrier, has he bounced his car off the large foam blocks lining the front stretch wall. After a brief caution to clean up the debris the field was back racing again. There would be green flag racing from lap 5 until lap 22 when a spin by the #9 of aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year Contender Emily Packard of East Montpelier, VT would bring out the second caution of the night. As they say cautions breed cautions and on lap 24 the 89 of Gneiting would spin as he battled for the lead with the front of the pack. On the restart the field would be stacked up again when for the second time of the evening Vasquez was unable to find fourth gear. Everyone was able to get around Vasquez and continue racing. At this point the battle was for second between the #44 of Logan and the #88 of Bourgeois. The 79 of D'Agostino who took the top spot on lap 15 checked out and cruised to his first feature win of the 2009 season. At the checkers the 79 was followed by Logan and Bourgeois. Rounding out the top 5 was Poodiack and Gneiting, who battled back from his earlier spin. The hard charger of the night went to rookie driver Sean Murphy of Mainard, MA, who had his best finish of his rookie season moving up from his13th place starting position and coming in 6th. This after being involved in a hard crash during the second round of practice.

Unfortunately for James the start of the race would be a little challenging as he spun in the middle of turns one and two at the drop of the green flag, bringing out the first of four cautions. On the restart the field would go back to the original lineup with the exception of the 44 who had to drop to the rear of the field.
Lap six would see the #99 of Tommy Barrett of Millis, MA spin down the back stretch into the infield. Tommy was unable to get his Victory Lane Bar and Grill Monte Carlo fired up and back on the track and the caution had to be thrown on lap nine.
On the restart it would be the #81, the #88 of East Hadaam, CT. driver Eric Bourgeois in the KMV Racing, V-Twin Mfg. sponsored Ford Thunderbird followed by the #89 of Cody Gneiting of Somers, CT in his Custom Homes by Cooker Construction Ford Thunderbird. Rounding out the top five would Taunton, MA driver Shane D'Agostino in the #79 After Hours Auto Body Monte Carlo followed by Newburgh, NY driver Michael A. Vasquez, Sr. in the KMV Racing, V-Twin Mfg sponsored Ford Thunder bird.
There would be green flag racing until lap twenty one when a single car spin by aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year Contender Mickey D'Agostino spun his #25 Tech Mechanical Systems Monte Carlo. Two laps later fellow aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year Contender Nathan Johnson, of Troy, NH would spin his #5 Ford Thunderbird in the middle of turns three and four.
On the restart it was Tuthill, who led every lap in the race thus far, followed by Logan who worked all the way back to the front, followed by Bourgeois, Gneiting and Shane D'Agostino. The top five would stay the same all the way to the checkers.
Tuthill is two for two has he clinched his second win of the 2009 season. Bourgeois who has returned to the ALNRS after a one year absence had a career best third place finish. The aDP Rivet Rookie of the Race would go to Peter Portante of Plainville, CT in his #24 MBG, Northern Construction sponsored Chevy Monte Carlo who finished eighth place.

Newburgh, NY March 29, 2009 - Paul Tuthill scores the first win of the 2009 ALNRS Season at the Budweiser Nationals at the Waterford Speedbowl this past weekend. 13 Drivers representing five New England states hit the track for the season opener. After a full day of practice on Friday the teams were primed and ready to go on Saturday. Due to time constraints the track and ALNRS Officials had to do away with their ten lap qualifying race and go with a 30 lap feature. Without the qualifying race the starting lineup would be determined by a random draw. The top spot would go to Somers, CT driver Cody Gneiting who pulled the number one spot for his #89 Custom Homes by Cooker Construction, Meyers Motors sponsored Ford. Cody was looking to start his 2009 season were he left off in 2008 when he ended the season with back to back wins.
Cody would only hold the top spot for one round as last years top contender James Logan of Dighton MA. in his #44 G. Lopes Construction, G. Logan Contractors, would take the lead on lap two jumping two spots from his third place starting position. Trailing James would be Tuthill in his #81 Bobcat sponsored Ford, who moved up quickly from his sixth place starting position passing four cars on lap one to take the second spot.
With only two laps down the fight would be for second as Gneiting would fight his way back to the number two spot on lap three, followed by East Haddam, CT driver Eric Bourgeois who is returning to the series after a one year absence in the #92 KMV Racing E.B Exterminating Ford. Rounding out the top five would be Tuthill followed by 2008 Season standout driver Shane D'Agostino of Taunton, MA in the #79 After Hours Auto Body sponsored Chevy. Bourgeois would take the second spot on lap four as positions three, four and five would be an all out duel between D'Agostino, Tuthill and Gneiting. Lap nine would bring out the first of four cautions for a single car spin by rookie driver Peter Portante, who was making his ALNRS debut in the #24 MBG, Northern Construction sponsored Chevy Monte Carlo. The restart on lap ten would bring out the second caution as Newburgh, NY driver Michael A. Vasquez, Sr. would get into the rear of the #17 of Melissa Fifield on the restart. Thanks to a few pieces of hundred mile an hour duct tape Melissa was able to make some quick repairs and return to the track for the restart.
It would be green flag racing till lap twenty five when the parts gremlin would once again ruin the day for Logan as the heim on his panhard bar would let loose ending James's dominating day and relegating him to a last place finish.
Lap twenty seven would see the final caution of the day as a spin by the #92 of Bourgeois in turn two would collect his teammate Vasquez in the #8 and the #24 of Portante. Out of the three, Vasquez was the only one able to continue.
